Obituary

Walter Hadley "Buck" Jordan, Jr., 68, of Wingate, NC departed to heaven on 28 November 2021. He was born on 11 August 1953 in Whiteville, NC, and spent the majority of his childhood living in Cheraw, SC. He was a patriot who believed in the greatness of America. Buck enjoyed reading, wildlife, politics, science, canoeing, traveling, and spending time outdoors taking hikes; especially hiking in the South Carolina timberlands. He was an avid marksman, an expert in firearms, and enjoyed target shooting. He would get up at any time of the night to watch an eclipse, or witness other astrological phenomena such as meteor showers. He valued the beauty of a sunset, a sunrise, and all of nature. He enjoyed watching movies and documentaries; particularly of the Western and Historical genres. He was a lifelong learner. He graduated from Cheraw High School, Chesterfield Marlboro Technical College and later obtained his Bachelor's degree in Business from Wingate University. He worked in cigarette manufacturing at Philip Morris, Inc. in Concord, NC for over 20 years, until his retirement. During his time at Philip Morris, Inc. (later Altria Group USA), he worked as a Chief Shop Steward and was also elected the Cabarrus Labor Union President. He traveled to many places and especially enjoyed his visits to the Hoover Dam, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon. He also enjoyed traveling to Germany, Italy and France. He was a life-long Episcopalian, and attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Monroe, NC. He is preceded in death by his father, Walter Hadley Jordan, Sr. and his mother Viriginia Mae Jarrell "Ginny" Jordan, his brother Michael Lyn Jordan, his brother Thomas Jarrell Jordan, and a nephew Hadley Aaron Jordan. He is survived by his wife Sandra Gail McLain Jordan, of Wingate, NC; his daughter, Kimberly Charlotte Jordan, of Wingate, NC; his daughter, Carrie Alexandra Jordan (Jason Neal Smith) and grandson Justice Neal Jordan-Smith of Unionville, NC; his brother Robin "Bob" M. Jordan (Rhonda) of North Augusta, SC; his niece Kathleen Jordan Kagan (Vadim) of Glendale, Arizona; his niece Adrienne Jordan Hadden (John) of Augusta, GA; his niece Savannah Kirsten Jordan of North Augusta, SC; and his nephew Robin Douglas Jordan of North Augusta, SC; his niece Mary Hannah Jordan of Cheraw, SC; his niece Emily Jordan Joshi (Raul) and great nephew David of Kannapolis, NC. He also leaves behind his loving dog named Candy Corn, aka "Shasta." A visitation will be held at Holland Funeral Home, Monroe, NC, on 5 December 2021 from 2pm until 3:30pm, followed by a 4pm funeral at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Monroe, NC.
