IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Timothy Dale
Horne
September 7, 1952 – February 12, 2026
Timothy Dale Horne, a cherished husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and beloved "Poppy," passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on September 7, 1952, Tim lived life out loud. As the foundation of the family, he had a reputation for being the best storyteller, making others laugh with his feisty personality. Whether offering advice, a playful tease or words of wisdom earned through the years of living fully, “Poppy,” had a way of making each of us feel deeply loved.
A memorial service to honor Tim’s life will be held at Peachland Baptist Church in Peachland, NC, on February 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a gathering to follow at the family’s home.
Tim was a man of many hobbies. He loved to embrace the outdoors, spending much of his free time on the golf course where he was affectionately known by the nickname "Hummingbird." When Poppy was not playing golf or spending time with family he could be found hunting or fishing. He was at peace and happy when surrounded by nature. Those who knew him, loved him for the smiles and laughter he brought to all. His personality was undeniably infectious.
Tim's greatest joy, without a doubt, was his family. He treasured every moment spent with his beloved wife of 52 years, Debbie Horne, and their children: Misty Barrett (Clay), Megan Perkins (Tony), and Dusty Horne (Lindsey). He was a proud “Poppy” to his grandchildren—Madilyn Beachum, Garrett Beachum, Laney Horne, and Kinley Perkins—each bringing light to his life in their own unique way. In addition to his grandchildren, “Poppy” enjoyed spoiling his three grandpuppies: Tillman Kirby Horne "T.K.," Gatlin Tucker Beachum, and Bubbas Perkins, who were beloved members of the family in his eyes.
He is survived by his father-in-law, “Papa” Roy Thomas, his brother, Gerald Horne (Sara), and his sister, Jane Paige, who will forever hold his memory close. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Millard Thomas Horne, and his mother, Fala Hasty Horne, as well as his beloved mother-in-law, “Mema”, Eleanor W. Thomas.
Tim leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and beautiful memories—from family vacations spent in the mountains and at the beach to the simple joy of indulging in his favorite snacks; Milk Duds, chocolate ice cream and especially Little “Debbie” Cakes. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
