Roy Lawrence Helms, age 81, of Monroe, North Carolina passed away Friday, May 01, 2026, at Hospice of Union County. He was born on January 28, 1945, in Union County, North Carolina to the late Lawrence Helms and Flora Stegall Helms.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am until 12:00pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:30pm at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.

Roy served his Country in the United States Army and was considered a “Jack of All Trades” when it came to construction.

He is survived by beloved daughters Dawn Consider (David), Patricia Bigham (Allen), Tammy Drye (Doug) and Brenda “Casey” Faircloth (Mark), his sister Phyllis Helms, grandchildren; Troy Dishman (Stacy), Aaron Dishman (Katie), Allison Bigham, Matthew Bigham, Jonathan Stover, Jessie Stover, Laura Richardson (Colton) and Mark Faircloth II (Haley), great-grandchildren; Oaklynn Dishman, Eloise Richardson, Colton Richardson, Asa Richardson, Rosie Faircloth and Ryleigh Faircloth.

In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his loving wife Glenda Shrader Helms, brother Joe Neal Helms and sisters Frances Richardson and Winnie Helms.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Atrium Health Hospice & Palliative Care Union, 700 W Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
