Robert L. Stone, III "Bob" Bob, 66, has transitioned into the next life to be with the Lord on February 21, 2017. His struggles and pain associated with heart disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple myeloma and ultimately pneumonia were overcome in his final hours by the purest and most sincere love of his wife, Cathy; witnessed even in the glorious and miraculous throe of his final releasehome. Bob was born July 3, 1950 and raised in Charlotte, NC. He graduated (class of 1968) from Kings Mountain but claimed Garinger High School as his home school. Bob served in the United States Navy as Gunner's Mate Technician maintaining nuclear weapons at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown, VA. Here he met the love of his life and everlasting soulmate, Cathy. Returning to Charlotte, NC to spend the remainder of his life, Bob had three sons, Christopher, Benjamin and Nathaniel in whom he took great joy being intimately involved in their lives – through faith, academics, athletics, music and more. Bob's greatest pleasure was working and coaching his sons and their teammates in recreational sports through East Meck, Winterfield and University City youth sports programs, as well as the head baseball coach at JT Williams Middle School for two years. Bob worked for Delmar Studios and the US Postal Service before retiring in 2007. There is no greater paradigm of companionship and unconditional love than that exemplified in Bob and Cathy's relationship that endured and flourished together as One for 43 years of his life. Bob is also survived by his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Julia Stone, his sister, Linda Perry (Albemarle, NC), nephew Jonathan Perry and wife Shannon (Monroe, NC), niece Amber Perry and fiance Ryan Carney (Charlotte, NC), niece Lauren Havens (NJ), mother-in-law Ann Blood (Newport News, VA), brother-in-law and wife Steven and Laurie Becker (Newport News, VA), step-sister Nikki Dotson-Lorello and husband Tommy Lorello (Charlotte, NC) and other relatives in Kings Mountain, NC.
