Robert Lee Simpson, a cherished member of the Monroe community, passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on July 2, 1947, Robert lived a life filled with love, laughter, and deep faith, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Rd, Monroe, NC 28110. The family will receive friend at the church prior to the service from 1:00pm until 1:45pm.
A devoted Christian, Robert was an active member of Love Baptist Church. He found joy in coaching and umpiring softball in church leagues around Union County and the surrounding areas. Robert was known for always having a story to share; sharing stories with anyone who would lend a listening ear. Robert also took joy in exploring the outdoors and hunting. His quick wit and ability to connect with people allowed him to never meet a stranger, fostering relationships that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
Family was the cornerstone of Robert's life. He was proudly married to his wife, Barbara, for 40 wonderful years, creating a lifetime of memories together. Among these treasured moments was their unforgettable cruise to Cancun and Bermuda, a captivating experience that reflected their shared love for adventure and each other.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Henry Simpson, and his mother, Lena Baucom Simpson.
Robert is survived by his five beloved children: Crystal Paneque (Brian), Lori Mason (John), Lisa Polson (Clint), Tammy Jamison (Jerrad), and Robin Bryan (Mitchell). His legacy continues with his grandchildren: Dustin Mason, Jesse Kaminsky, Spencer Mason, Wesley Bryan (Amber), Robbie Bryan, Travis Jamison, MacKenzie Schelling (Bo), Lance Polson, Jackson Rich, and Mason Simpson, as well as his great-grandchildren: Oakyln Mason, Delilah Kaminsky, Ellie Mae Mason, and Aviah Schelling.
