Rachel Marie
Oxendine
Rachel Marie Oxendine was a deeply loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend. She was born alongside her best friend and twin sister, Rebekah, on November 12, 1996, to her loving parents, Dan and Lisa Oxendine. Rachel and Rebekah grew up alongside their older sister, Brittany, and their younger siblings, Sarah, Bethany, and Steven, forming a family that was the center of Rachel’s world. Rachel graduated from Piedmont High School in Monroe, North Carolina, and attended Wingate University as a track and field athlete.
Rachel loved fiercely and lived her life “undefined”. She had a spirit that was magnetic, and people were always drawn to her honesty and humor. She found joy in running and was a decorated athlete. She was a ceramics enthusiast and had a passion for creating art in any medium. She loved spending time with her family, friends, and her two cats, Sushi and Sake, more than anything.
Rachel had a rare and beautiful way of making others feel less alone. She was always available if you needed someone to talk to at any hour of the day or night (but preferably between the hours of 2-4 AM), and she always did her best to make everyone laugh. She wore her heart on her sleeve, showed up for and cared deeply for her loved ones, and always said what she was thinking… no matter what. She would “not be silenced”, but she would definitely be late.
Rachel will forever be remembered by her family and friends. To know her was to love her and inevitably be loved back harder. Rachel was and always will be loved beyond words. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and we look forward to reuniting with her in Heaven when the Lord calls the rest of us home. Until then, we know Rachel is in the loving arms of her grandmother, Linda, and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Romans 4:20–21: “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; and being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform.”
Rachel is survived by her parents and five siblings, significant other, Kase Graham; her grandmother Sandy Hicks; grandfather Cladie Oxendine, great-aunt Pamela Emrick; brother-in-laws Tony McConnell, Ethan Martino, and Robert Corley; niece Holly McConnell, twin nephew and niece Noah and Evelyn Corley; nephew Christian Martino; cousins Lindsay and Andrew Farrell; aunt and uncle Debbie and Steve Farrell; and uncle Jim Schaver.
