Vera Mae Burgess, 77, of Monroe, NC, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022. She was born December 27, 1944 in York, SC to the late Charlie Cleveland Sutton and Margie Lee Sutton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Monday, September 5th at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC. Funeral Service will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, September 6th at Holland Funeral Service. Immediately following, she will be laid to rest at Lakeland Cemetery.

Left to treasure her memory, Vera is survived by her sister, Annie Delores Richardson; her grandchildren, Christopher Burgess, Noel Burgess, Stephanie Pope, Ricky Ellis Jr. (Tori), and Grace Hurlocker (Zach); her great-grandchildren, Ayden Pope, Avery Pope, Jameson Ellis, Paisley Privette, Madison Overstreet, Haley Overstreet, Chloe Overstreet, and Sara Overstreet; and her great-great grandchild, Hudson Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Larry Burgess; daughter, Pamela Doreen Burgess; son, Kenneth Derrick Burgess; her parents; and her brothers.
