Shirley Ann Sims, 78, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, July 17, 2022. She was born on July 15, 1944, to the late Bruce Henry Drake Sr. and Edna Starnes Drake. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her brother, Tommy Drake (Martha); and her sister, Carol Drake; grandson, Kevin Prentice; and her paternal grandparents. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be announced at a later date. Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughter, Donica Cassidy and son, Jack Prentice Jr.; brother, Bruce Drake Jr. (Vicki); grandchildren, Brook Taylor(Ben), Kenneth Taylor Jr., Virginia Hamm (JP), Jack Prentice III(Nicole), Kandie Prentice, Dylan Prentice, RJ Cassidy(Danielle); 18 great-grandchildren; nieces, Patti Davenport(Gary), Angie Boatwright(Jason); nephew, Brian Drake; 3 great-nieces and nephews; her basketball buddy, David Headrick, and many other special relatives and friends. Shirley was a woman who loved her family. She would cherish every beach trip she was able to take with them. When she wasn't on the beach, she could be found playing at the arcade or relaxing by the pool. Shirley also loved having her family over for cookouts. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, undoubtedly because it brought her family together. She loved seeing the smiles on her grandbabies' faces while they would open gifts. Shirley loved basketball. It didn't matter what time the game would start; she was sure to watch it. She loved the UNC TarHeels. Shirley was a kind and gentle soul who will be forever cherished in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
