Ms. Shirley Gean Heath, the daughter of the late Lee Lester Heath and Magenia Patterson Heath, was born on Saturday, August 17, 1957 in Monroe, NC. She transitioned from Earth to eternal life on Friday, March 1, 2024. Shirley graduated from Monroe High in 1975. She attended Central Piedmont Community College to pursue a career in nursing and worked in various nursing homes as a young adult. Shirley was a doting mother and grandmother, who would do anything for her children and grandchildren. Shirley was a giver, sometimes giving her last to others in need. She would often say, "You can't take it with you." Her nieces and nephews often thought of her as a second mother, as she would often babysit without complaining.

Services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Union Funeral & Cremation Service Chapel, 704 Walkup Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.  Due to the weather, the burial will be held privately.

Shirley was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, David Patterson, brother, Bennie Lee Heath and an infant granddaughter.

Left to cherish Shirley's memories are: Her mother, Magenia Heath, two daughters, Kenya Fowler (Greg) and Chimene Heath; one son, Daceon Patterson of Monroe, NC; two brothers, Wayne Heath of Durham, NC and Calvin Heath of Monroe, NC; two sisters, Theresa Heath of Monroe, NC and Frankie Heath of Marshville, NC; one uncle, Herbert (Sheila) Barcus of Irvington, NJ; four aunts, Mary Barcus of Newark, NJ; David L. Cooper of Hillside, NJ; Betty Cokley of Nesmith, SC; and Virginia B. Canteen of Scranton, SC; eight grandchildren, David Heath, Mehki Heath, Jakari Rivens, Kyla Fowler, Jy'ceon Patterson, Julez Patterson, Jabril Bryant, and JaZelle Patterson; Friends of the Family - Robert Miller and Anita Hailey; and  a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
