Shirley Marie Burnett Harmon, 89, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, after a prolonged illness. Shirley was born on October 17, 1935, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lynn Harmon, and her parents: Virginia Lee Burnett and Jesse L. Burnett. She is survived by her daughters: Jo Robbins (Gene) and Fran Poropatic (Steve) and two grandsons: Nick Robbins (Kirsten) and Michael Poropatic.

As the wife of a United Methodist pastor, Shirley resided in several towns throughout central and western Kentucky during her adult life. Her retirement years were spent in Jeffersontown, Kentucky and at Wesley Manor Retirement Community in Louisville, Kentucky. Shirley moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in March of 2024 to be closer to family.

Shirley was a graduate of Ahrens High School, Louisville, Kentucky and attended Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia, Kentucky. In addition to being the consummate pastor's wife, Shirley worked in various retail sales companies; her last position before retiring was at Baer Fabrics in downtown Louisville. Shirley often said she grew up attending many different denominations, but she was a devoted United Methodist for most of her life. She taught Sunday School and vacation Bible school, held many offices over the years in the United Methodist Women, and was active in the Louisville Annual Conference spouse groups. She loved to travel, visit with family, read, play cards, and sew. She was a wonderful Nana who spoiled her grandsons, sons-in-law, daughters, and anyone else who would let her.
