Rita Calhoun, 80, passed away February 2, 2024. She was born in Monroe, North Carolina on March 22, 1943, to the late James Thomas Mills and Pauline Parker Mills.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112.Elder James Carelock and Pastor Roger Nance will be officiating. Ms. Calhoun will be laid to rest at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00pm until 1:45pm.

Rita is survived by her sons, Scott Bass Sr. (Edna), and John Andrew Calhoun; former husband, Dykes Carl Calhoun, grandchildren, James Scott Bass Jr., Morgan Alexandria Varney, Sarah Ashleigh Bass, Lina Paola Giraldo, Jacqueline Denise Humphrey, and Lindsey Brooke Humphrey; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Varney, Brody Bass, McKenna Bass, Nash McGlothlin, Landon Humphrey, Riley Tacy, Kynlie Persinger, and Kylie Persinger; and numerous other relatives and friends.
