Mildred "Mick" Almond, 93, of Albemarle, NC, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023. She was born Mildred Griffin on March 17, 1930, in Albemarle, where she spent her entire life. Mildred was preceded in death by her mother and father, James and Bertha Griffin, her brothers Hoyle and Carlyn Griffin, her sisters Juanita Myers and Shirley Griffin, as well as her grandchildren Tammy Martin and Jeff Newton.

Mildred was a loving and hardworking individual, known for her beautiful smile and dedication to caring for her mother, who lived to the remarkable age of 103. Throughout her life, Mildred had a successful career at Cannon Mills, where she worked for 35 years before retiring early to care for her parents and pursue further education. She obtained her GED at SSCC and earned diplomas as a nursing assistant and as a Hairdresser.

Mildred had a passion for knitting and was highly skilled in this craft. She hand-knitted numerous sweaters for her loved ones until her allergies began to affect her ability to continue. In her free time, Mildred enjoyed dedicating herself to her hobbies.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Carol McDonald of Denton, NC and Vickie Rogers of Albemarle, NC, and her son, Ken Almond of Albemarle, NC. She also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Butch Newton, Tim Newton, Chris McDaniel, and Stephanie Conrad.

A memorial service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held at a later date, allowing friends and family to come together and remember her. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
