Mary Sue Laney, 80, of Monroe passed away April 19 of 2023. She was born in Monroe, NC on June 27th 1942 to Vanner Melton.

Sue was a beloved, lifelong member of Siler Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time outside, working in her yard, tending to her garden, watching nature, as well as caring for her favorite pup Max.

Sue was preceded by her mother, Vanner Melton; her sister Louise Rape; brothers Aron Melton, Crummie Melton, Dillon Melton, Archie Melton; and her husband Stacy Laney Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Linda Braswell (Russell), Rhonda Price (Ralph); her son, Tim Laney; her daughters, Traci Raine (Jamie), Leigh Ann Broome (Doug); as well as her grandson Liam Raine; and her granddaughters, Ragan Mason (Anthony), and Taylor Raine.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 24th at Siler Presbyterian Church starting at 1pm, funeral service will begin at 2pm followed immediately by the graveside service. Flowers will be accepted, but donations may also be made to Siler Presbyterian Church.
