Marilyn MacKenzie Reynolds, 94, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024. Mala, as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, was born on June 17, 1930, in Boston, MA, to William Wallace MacKenzie Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Dillon) MacKenzie.

Mala graduated from Framingham State College with a Bachelor's of Science degree. Mala taught exceptional children with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system for over 20 years before retiring in 1986. Mala had a strong faith and always led with love and kindness. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and adored her church family. Mala was an avid "political junkie" and had a Twitter following of over 6,800 followers (@politjunkiem). She was a proud Yellow Dog Democrat.

Mala enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She especially loved getting kisses and affection from her granddogs, Avi, Scout, and Ryker. Mala enjoyed her glass of red wine, dark chocolate, a good book, and the beach.

In addition to her parents, Mala is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bill Reynolds.

Mala is survived by her beloved children Bill (Angela) Reynolds of Tega Cay, SC, and Dana Reynolds of Matthews, NC; her doting grandchildren—Kelli, Steve (Rachel), Madison, Sabrina, Trey, and Christian. Brother, Bill MacKenzie Jr. of La Jolla, CA, and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family in California and North Carolina. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in honor of Mala to Sardis Baptist Church at 5811 Sardis Rd. Charlotte, NC 28270.
