Marie Elizabeth Lemon (nee White) January 17, 1943 - May 9, 2021 passed away peacefully after a brief illness. Marie is preceded in death by her husband Samuel Noel Lemon and leaves behind her daughter Cheryl, son-in-law David and son Noel, grandchildren Morgan Elizabeth (20), Ryan Noel (18), and Sophia Hazel Marie (15), as well as her sister Joan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and seventeen nieces and nephews.
Marie was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland to George & Clara White. At the age of nineteen she travelled to Philadelphia, PA to spend time with her brother George and his family. Marie loved it so much she registered at the Kelly Girl employment agency and secured a position at The Insurance Companies of North America. Marie stayed on for almost two years before making the decision to go back home to Belfast in 1964, just prior to her twenty-first birthday. It was then that her sister, Joan introduced her to Noel Lemon. The two were married on April 4, 1966 and Cheryl was born in June 1967. In October of 1968, Marie and Noel made the decision to leave Northern Ireland and make a life together in the United States. They settled in Philadelphia and had their second child, Noel, Jr. in January 1972. Over the years, the couple lived in Oklahoma, Florida and Virginia. When Noel passed in 2012, Marie moved with Cheryl and family to a suburb outside of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Marie was a beautiful and charming lady with a sense of humor that wouldn't stop; she was loved and admired by everyone she came in contact with. In her lifetime she visited at least ten countries, twenty states and countless towns in between. She loved life and made the most of every day. Those who knew her know she loved all genres of music and loved to dance. She loved listening to Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Jimmy Buffet and most of all, Alan Jackson.
We all have such wonderful memories of our dear mother and know that she will be missed tremendously by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and called her Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Sister-in-Law and Friend.
