Mrs. Johnsie Ardella Sturdivant Thomas was born on September 22, 1933, to the late Sam Sturdivant and Alberta Parsons Sturdivant. She was called from time into eternity on March 25, 2023 at her home.

Johnsie attend Christ Bible Discipleship Worship Center in Marshville, NC, where she was faithful in attendance until her health declined. Grandma Johnsie, as many called her, was what love looked like. She aged in grace and wisdom, and when she spoke it was all out of love. Her passion was for her family and she was kind and tender hearted to all people. She was a lot of things to a lot of people, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, an auntie, a great cousin, and a best friend. Johnsie loved reading and studying the word of God. She enjoyed a lot of things, but mostly being in her kitchen.

She was married to the late James Thomas. She was preceded in death by her son, Carl Thomas, one grandson, William Lowery, and one granddaughter, Allison McNeil. She will forever be loved by her children, James Thomas, Nancy (Paul) Autry, Brenda Knotts, Joyce (Michael) Polk, Geraldine (Rodney) Miller, Carolyn (Eddie) Steward, Gregory Thomas, Baron Thomas, and Ebony Thomas. She raised 3 grandchildren, Darius Thomas, Brittany Thomas, and Jordan Thomas. She has 3 bonus children, Tammy Blount, James Lindsey, and Nicky McClendon. Her legacy continues with 63 grandchildren, 118 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her beloved two sisters, Maggie Hammond, and Janie (Leroy) Colston; and one brother, Steve (Mary) Sturdivant. Her best friend, Beatrice Thomas and her niece that is more like a sister, Lillie Marsh, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
