Jean Ena Evadne Thomas was born on September 27, 1932 in Manchester Village to Florence Butcher and Alfred Thomas. Both of her parents were villagers of Manchester Village, Corentyne, Bernice, and Guyana S.A. She was the sister of the following siblings who had preceded her in death: Lydia Macculum, Buzzett Thomas, Syll Sandy, and Baby Skestte. She is survived by and still living, Waveney Ainsworth, Gerald Thomas and Othille Joseph. As a child, Jean grew up in Manchester Village and attended Manchester Primary School. After graduation Jean pursued careers in several areas including dress making, teaching, professional singing, and international cuisine. Jean was very famous for her fried rice and chicken-in-the-ruff skills while she worked at the Penguin International Hotel in New Amsterdam, Bernice, and Guyana. Jean has brought into this world eight beautiful children: in order of seniority: Clephane Burgess; Hazel Harris; followed by and after her marriage to Edward David in 1958, Conrad David, Amanda Campbell, Phillip David, Deyonne Goldson, Regnah Williams, and Odoo David. She has been blessed with 29 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; three son-in-laws and four daughter-in-laws. We are all part of Jean's family circle. Jean was a loveable, kind Hearted and friendly person who never missed an opportunity to help any of her siblings, friends, and extended family who were in need. She will be missed. She is gone but not forgotten. May her soul rest in peace. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 21,2021 at 3:00pm at Monroe Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3007 Weddington Rd, Monroe, NC 28110. A public viewing will be held at the church from 2:00pm until 2:45pm prior to the beginning of the service. Jean will be laid to rest at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery.
