IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ms. Iva Lee Lowery
Knight
June 28, 1931 – June 1, 2024
Mrs. Iva Lee Lowery Knight, 92, of Wingate, went to her heavenly home on June 1, 2024. She was born to the late Earl & Ada Lowery in Lancaster, SC on June 28, 1931.
Iva Lee leaves behind her loving children, Angela Aldridge (Billy), Vickie Schneider (Kenny), Danny Knight (Wanda), Charles Knight (Connie); her sister, Jean Bailey (Cecil); her cousin, Jenkins Lowery who continued to visit her regularly; 10 grandchildren and their spouses and 12 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in passing by her brother, Griggs Lowery and sister, Willene Hendrick.
She shared a remarkable 71-year marriage with her beloved husband, Boyd. Their love and admiration were shown in their four children, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Together, they cherished the time spent at the river. Iva Lee enjoyed crappie fishing and could be found often casting her line with a cane pole. She enjoyed sitting outside watching the birds, counting the airplanes passing by, and gazing up at the evening sky when all of God's handiwork was on display.
Lovingly known as "Granny," Iva Lee embodied her honored title. Her family held a central place in her heart. Every Sunday night, she devotedly prepared supper for her entire family, ensuring there was always a seat at the table for anyone who joined them over the years. Every Christmas morning, she would feed the entire family a breakfast that included all the works. These meals brought her so much joy, to be able to share that time with the ones she loved most. She delighted in watching her grandbabies play, even as they grew into adults who now played with her great-grandchildren in the front yard of her home on those special Sunday evenings. Granny's house became a source of countless cherished memories and traditions. As each new baby entered the family, Iva Lee poured her creativity into hand-quilted blankets, making sure each grandchild had a beautiful heirloom to grow with. Beyond her nurturing role, she excelled with "figures", as she would say, a skill she sharpened during her studies at King's Business College. Most importantly she was a woman of God, and lived her life by these words, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33 Today we rejoice, because we know she is now in that kingdom walking with Jesus and is restored to new health.
