Helen Jefferson Collins, 95, was called to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband, Fairley Laney; her sons Robert, Henry and Dannie Laney, and two infant children. Helen is survived by her remaining children, Irby (Janice), David (Judy), Harvey (Sandy), Perry (Lou Ann) and Joseph Laney, as well as 26 grandchildren, 42 great- grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

Born in Union County, Helen worked as a hairdresser, but her main role in life was that of a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed caring for her chickens, who like Helen were small in stature but big in personality. Helen is remembered for her Sunday family dinners and always having a homemade pound cake or pumpkin pie ready to share. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Ms. Collins will then be laid to eternal rest at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

In place of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Mt Zion Baptist Church, 6907 Gus Eubanks Road, Monroe, NC.

Helen's family would like to extend gratitude to the staff of Autumn Care of Marshville for the care they provided to Helen in her final years.
