Mary Geneva Nash, known to her friends and loved ones as "Neva", was born in Union County NC. She graduated from Benton Heights High School and became a secretary working in Charlotte NC. She married John F Helms, and they had one Daughter Teresa Before divorcing. She continued taking courses in accounting and Management. She was married to Paris McAllister 1964-1975 before divorcing.

In the 1970s she started working for Union County Sheriff's Department and became a Sworn Deputy. She loved this job and performed so well they offered her the opportunity to start the 911 Department for Union County. She started training in other states and hired employees for the new department, and they went live.

She was also chosen to develop the emergency Services Department and was the head of both Departments when Hugo came through in 1989. She had also found time to fall in love again and Married Joe Neil Nash in 1988.

She is survived by her loving family and friends. Daughter Teresa Anderson Granddaughter Kaitlin Anderson neighbor Megan Richardson and a soon to be Great Granddaughter Rory Anderson. Nieces Frances Fowler, Shirley Adams, Margie Plyler, Cathy Laney and their families. We also appreciate her lifelong best friends Betty Ann Starnes, Delores Wiley and Martha Hasty.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Benton Heights, Presbyterian Church 2701 Concord Hwy, Monroe NC 28110. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 2:45pm at the church prior to the service.
