September 11, 1941 – March 13, 2025
Ms. Frankie Taylor Long, age 83, of Monroe, went home to her Lord Jesus Christ on March 13, 2025. Born September 11, 1941 to her parents, Earl Franklin and Mae Valentine in Polkton, NC.
Frankie graduated from Prospect High School where she was a member of the basketball team and a bus driver. Playing basketball provided lifelong memories. Frankie worked in various administration positions until her retirement from Union Park Assisted Living in 2013. She was an active member of Altan Presbyterian Church. In recent years she was happiest spending time with her feline companion, Bonnie.
In addition to her parents, Frankie was preceded by her husband, Eddie W. Long; son, Richard (Gator) Wallace; sister, Margaret Melton, brothers, Dan Taylor, and Ronald Taylor; and brother-in-law, Alan Senter.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Taylor-Senter of Carborro, NC; brother-in-law, Ronnie Melton of Monroe, NC; sister-in-law, Maurine Taylor of Knoxville, TN; children, Michael Long (Amy), and Kathy Zavaleta (Victor); grandchildren, Catherine Gheen (Jay), Casey Clawson (Tyler), Cannon Long (Selena), Cailee Simpson (Mitchell), Molly Mauldin (Evan), Grace Giordano (Christian), Jacob Couick, and Roman Zavaleta; 6 great-grandchildren, 4 nephews, and 1 niece.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Altan Presbyterian Church, 5004 Wolf Pond Rd, Monroe, NC 28112. Ms. Long will be laid to rest in the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 2:00pm until 2:45pm.
