Frances "Helen" Sweatt Couick, age 82, of Waxhaw, passed away Friday evening, April 23, 2021, in Charlotte, NC. She was born November 4, 1938, in Lancaster County, SC, a daughter of the late Minor Alfonsey and Mary McCorkle Sweatt. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, Harold Gentry Couick, Sr. She leaves behind two sons, Harold Gentry Couick, Jr. and Howard Scott (Ginger) Couick; seven grandchildren, Chelsea (Joel) Aldridge, Seth Couick, Noah (Christin) Couick, Nathan (Amber) Couick, Josiah Couick, Gentry Couick, and Brittany Prim; three great-grandchildren, Jett Aldridge, Caden Aldridge, and Eliana Couick; and sister, Shirley Plyler of Lancaster, SC. Throughout her life, Helen was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle-Monroe, NC and an avid reader of God's Word. Her family found a reading log recording that she had read her Bible sixty times within the last ten years of her life. Helen also gave within her community as a daycare worker at the Waxhaw United Methodist Church for 30 years. She was an active homemaker and gardener. She enjoyed baking "friendship" bread for her friends and church family, as well as sewing and doing crafts. Helen will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, her giving heart, and her love for the Lord. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at Bible Baptist Tabernacle-Monroe, NC, with Pastor Bobby Leonard and son, Scott Couick, officiating. Burial will follow in the Waxhaw Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Bible Baptist Tabernacle, Monroe, NC- 2900 Walkup Ave. Monroe, NC 28110.
