Obituary

Ms. Ebonie Shauntelle Allen, known to her family as "Queen", was born on October 19, 1987, in Union County. She was the beloved daughter of Diana Lynn Hood. She departed this earthly life into her heavenly home on November 22, 2023, at Atrium Hospital in Charlotte, NC.

Ebonie was preceded in death by her Father, William E. Allen, Great-Grandparents, Leroy and Leona Jordan Hood, Ben and Louisiana Robinson, Grandmothers, Loistine Walls Hood and Rosa Mae Allen and Special Angels, Gracie Winchester and Ethel Eddye McCall.

Ebonie loved working, cooking, sewing and her family. She also loved spiritual studies and studying natural medicine. She was a big advocate for sickle cell and breast cancer awareness. Ebonie loved the Lord and at an early age she gave her life to Christ. She was a frequent member of Friendship Baptist Church in Monroe, NC until she moved to Charlotte, NC. Every Friday Evening Ebonie was very engaged in a Prayer Ministry. Even driving home late from work she would still dial into the prayer line. Being the youngest one on the line the Lord had her there to encourage so many people regardless of their ages. Due to her illness, she worked various jobs that would accommodate her numerous Doctor appointments. God always gave her favor with her managers. Just recently she was actively employed at Dell Computer Company setting up stores in North and South Carolina. She was educated at Monroe High School and graduated in 2005. Ebonie was a very strong encourager and she believed that was her purpose in life. Ebonie was spoken to by so many people to write a Book however she was instrumental in taping a Radio Broadcast sharing her story. She was a strong nurturer in her home, and she loved caring for her family.

Ebonie leaves to cherish precious memories of her children, Jacquez Elliot, Xander Higgs, and Madison Higgs of the home, Fiancé, Darrien Higgs of Charlotte, NC, Mother, Diana Lynn Hood of Monroe, NC, Grand-Fathers, Odell Hood of Monroe, NC, William Allen of Wingate, NC, Two Sisters, Dominique Williams of Savannah, GA, and Saquita Allen of Marshville, NC, Three brothers, Jamal Allen of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Quinthony Allen of Marshville, NC, and (Foster) Brandon Duncan of Monroe, NC, Aunts, Yolanda Hood, and Alberta Rushing of Wingate, NC, Peggy Brewer, and Trina Rushing of Marshville, NC, Pamela Holmes (Avery) of Jacksonville, NC and Jacquelyn Johnson of Tampa, FL.

She is also survived by, Uncles, Lacey Hood (Erica), Quentin Hood (Adrian), Steven Hood all of Monroe, NC, Chris Hood (Abigail) of Chicago, IL, Barry Rushing of Marshville, NC, Michael McClendon of Charlotte, NC, and John Johnson (Arica) of Fort Walton Beach, FL, God-Mother, Harriet Denise Gibson of Atlanta, GA, God-Father, James Hughes of Monroe, NC, Great-Aunts, Elma Faulkner, Fair Mae Walls, Berthina Barrett, Mary Ann Hood, and Barbara Hood all of Monroe, NC, Great-Uncles, Charles Walls, James Hood (Brenda), William Hood, William Hudson all of Monroe, NC, Leroy Hood Sr. of Charlotte, NC, Ronald Hood (Julia Ann) of Queens, NY, a Niece, Destiny Bryant, cousins, family and friends.
