Dorothy Louise White Gaither was born, Dorothy Louise White, December 15, 1929 to Cleve and Nettie White in Union County, NC. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Monroe, NC and began her long life of service. She married W.C. Gaither in 1949 and they had two children, Lynn and Larry. Shortly after they married, she joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe and went on to become and true servant of God. She was a deaconess, missionary, co-chair of the food committee, and Pastor's Aide president. She worked in the cafeteria at the historic Winchester Avenue School during her children's younger years and then moved on to a long career as a Sleever at Tamarand Sportswear.

A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends before the service Saturday from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the church.

Affectionately known as Mama Dot, because she became a mother figure to all she met. Her favorite hymn was "May the Work that I've Done Speak for Me" and her service and love of God and others spoke volumes.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and only brother, James White and her husband Walter Charlie Gaither.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Lynn Price, son Larry Gaither, sister-in-law Jaki White(Shawn and Tony), granddaughter Crystal Harley(Montero who was also her caregiver), granddaughter Amber O'Brien(Sean), granddaughter DeLauren Jeffreys(Ryan), great grandchildren Malcolm Hunter, Shavar Harley, Jacoby O'Brien, and Benjamin and Kennedy Jeffreys.

Ms. Gaither was bigger than life itself and she will truly be missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Council on Aging in Union County and Hospice of Union County.
