Deane Muriel Hammonds Parker, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11:30 pm, surrounded by her loved ones.
Deane was born on May 1, 1936 to John Harrison Hammonds and Mary (Bright) Helms Hammonds. She married the love of her life, Jimmy B. Parker, on July 15, 1953. She graduated in 1954 from Mineral Springs High School in Mineral Springs, North Carolina. Deane was a longtime member of Corinth Baptist Church and she worked for many years at Union County Farm Bureau before eventually retiring from Farm Bureau.
Deane is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy and their children, Ronny Parker {Linda), Tammy Jones, and Lisa Brantley (Mike), their grandchildren, Misty Parker, Shane Parker (Monica), Phillip Jones, Kasey Jones (Shuan), Hailee Jones, Kayla Roach (Logan), Kendall Roach, Kody Roach (Kendall), Matthew Brantley, Jake Brantley, Chad Brantley and their great-grandchildren, Ryan Parker, Ansley Parker, Mazie Parker, Landon Jones, Hope Jones, Zane Jones and Wylie Saylor. Deane is also survived by her sisters, Jean Rushing and Betty Smith (Gary), her Daughter-in-love, Pam Keziah Parker, many nieces and nephews and her dog, Bella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hammonds, her brother, John Hammonds, Jr. and his wife, Eleanor Hammonds, her sisters, Dot Reedy and Virginia Brooks.
Deane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. If you knew Deane, you loved her. She loved people unconditionally. A few of her favorite things were flowers, her game shows, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Family Feud and she loved to watch Steph Curry play basketball. She also loved going to eat breakfast with her brother and sisters to celebrate their birthdays.
Her family is at peace knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior and her loved ones, but they will forever love her and miss her. Her family would like to thank everyone for all the calls, texts, cards, meals and visits during this difficult time. It means so much.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Corinth Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at 11:00 am – 12:00 pm with her service immediately following.
