Cathy Orr Melton, 73, went to her heavenly home on September 2, 2025. She was born in Union County, North Carolina on January 20, 1952, to the late John and Rena Orr. Cathy will be remembered for her service to the community working at Family House and Fireside Restaurant in Mattews for over 40 years. When Cathy wasn't working, she could often be found enjoying the outdoors or reading a good book, listening to Elvis and watching John Wayne movies. Above all, Cathy loved spending time with her family and especially cherished the times she was able to spend with her grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday September 16, 2025 at 1pm at Forest Hills Baptist Church 2003 Willis Long Rd, Monroe, NC 28110.

In addition to her parents, Cathy is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, Carl Melton, sister, Ceola Belk, two brothers, Dexter Orr, and David Orr, and grandson, Brandon Thompson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Lydia Parker, Penelope Williams, Ginger Williams, John Phillips, Janet Adams (Brian), Angela Beth Thompson (Joe); 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister, Linda Parsons, and sister-in-law, Brenda Orr, and numerous nieces and nephews.
