Tula was born on February 12, 1945 in Union County, N.C. She was greeted at Heavens Gates by her father, James Howard Vanderlip, her mother Lucille B. Vanderlip, her sister, Robin V. Herring and her grandparents, Robert and Vergie Benton. Tula leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband, Thurman Helms; her son, Tim Helms, wife Rena & step-grandson, Junior; her brother, Jim Vanderlip and wife Denise; her sister Gail V. Rorie and husband Steve; and her brother Marty Vanderlip and wife Teresa. Tula is also survived by nieces and nephews that she loved dearly: Bo Taylor, Kimberly Vanderlip, Jamie Vanderlip and wife Jada, Chuck Rorie and wife Anisa, Kelly Brooks and husband Derek, Johnny Herring and wife Starra, Andy Herring and wife Amanda, Brittany Kiker and husband Dustin, Taylor Vanderlip and wife Emily, Madison Vanderlip, Jake Booth, Brittany Russ and husband Trevor and the late Luke Taylor Booth. Tula also adored her great nieces and nephews. Tula loved her family and friends well. She was always there for each and every one of us. Tula was the one to give a call and make sure all was well. If you were Tula's friend, you knew it, she had many friends. She had a caring heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Tula professed her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior, back in 1999. Rest sweetly our wife, mother, sister and aunt. We love you and will see you again, one day, after a while. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Holland Funeral Service. A service to celebrate Tula's life will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel.
