Cummiskey, Shirley A. (Smith), 85, of Waxhaw, NC passed away at Novant Hospital, Matthews, NC on May 27, 2024.

Born in West Warwick, RI on July 10, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Everett Smith and Lena (Terilli) Smith. She was the beloved wife for 42 years of the late Joseph T. Cummiskey.

Shirley worked as a supervisor at Amtrol in West Warwick, RI for 19 years before retiring and moving to Morganton, NC. She was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Morganton, NC and a member of the Ladies Guild. Shirley was an active volunteer with the community foodbank and eucharistic ministries. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, gardening and listening to country music. She will be remembered especially for both her kindness and generosity, and her sense of humor will be missed by many.

She leaves her children Richard Peiczarka of Waxhaw, NC, Linda Rogers of Moosup, CT, David Peiczarka of Thompson, CT and Michael Peiczarka of Killingly, CT; step-children Jay Cummiskey of West Kingston, RI and Darrin Cummiskey of Warwick, RI; five grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Joanne Peiczarka, step-mother of the late Neale and Brian Cummiskey, and grandmother of the late Michael Peiczarka.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Memorial Service on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 12:00 pm in St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 728 West Union Street, Morganton, NC 28655. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick, RI.
