IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mrs. Nadene Elizabeth
Callahan
May 5, 1950 – November 2, 2022
Nadene Elizabeth Callahan, 72, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, November 2, 2022, in her residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail Fairview Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 4:00pm until 5:45pm.
Mrs. Callahan was born May 5, 1950 in Cobleskill, NY, a daughter of Daniel Webster and Charlotte Ruth (Elliott) Sherman. A 1968 graduate of Tully High School, she also attended Nyack Missionary College where she met her sweetheart, Ron Callahan.
After college, she and her husband Ron settled in Greenville, PA where they raised their children.
Nadene worked as a nurse's aide and as an in-home, elderly caretaker for many years before she and her husband started their own business 'Nadene's'. She also volunteered in her local church, where she taught children, by sharing her love of Jesus at children's church as well as vacation bible school. She served in the after school program and assisted with local missions work. In her presence, there were "no orphans".
As a homemaker, Nadene's family was her pride and joy. In her spare time she enjoyed making crafts. Always fun-loving, she never missed an opportunity to be silly with her sisters, play games with family and friends, or watch a Hallmark movie.
Her mother-in-law, Twila Callahan, was her best friend. Nadene made friends everywhere she went and always took the time to listen and pray for anyone in need.
Nadene will be greatly missed as she was greatly loved by many.
Her husband of 52 years, Ronald K. Callahan, whom she married November 8, 1969, survives at home in Monroe.
Nadene is also survived by a son, R. Scott (Jenny) Callahan, of Sharon, PA; two daughters, Colleen (Tommy) McLean, of Indian Trail, NC, and Nichole Callahan, of Monroe, NC; three grandchildren, Tristen (McKynze) Baur, Casey Baur and Ronald J. (Emily) Callahan; one great-grandchild, Haven Capri Brooks. Also surviving is her mother, Charlotte Ruth Sherman; six siblings, Diana Heffer, Larry (Sharon) Sherman, Joe (Jeanette) Sherman, Charita (Tom) Gefell, Peggy (David) Ball, and Darryl "Rock" (Kathy) Sherman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her father, Nadene was preceded in death by a brother Gary Sherman.
Holland Funeral Service is serving the Callahan Family.
