Martha H. Rorie, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Atrium Hospice on May 3, 2023. Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is with the Lord and her soul mate Sonny Rorie. Martha was born on June 6, 1937 to the late Curtis Robert Huggins and Annie Katherine Helms Huggins. She loved her family and her church family. She enjoyed working in her yard, taking care of her flowers and painting ceramics.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Gilboa United Methodist Church with Rev. Luke Christy officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Rorie will be laid to rest in the Marshville City Cemetery immediately following the service.

In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in passing by her beloved husband, James "Sonny" Rorie, her infant son; and her brother, Robert "Bobby" Huggins.

She is survived by her daughter, Angie Boyd (Ken); sister, Katherine Howard; grandchildren, Jonathan Williams (Kristen), Jameathan Williams (Danielle), Danielle Boyd, and Justin Boyd (Brooke); great-granchildren, Laina, Dalton, Harper, Maci, Aubrey, and soon-to-be, baby Iyla; and numerous other special family members and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Atrium Hospice of Union County and Martha's care givers for their love, support and care given to her and their family. Those special care givers include, Chris Closs, Kelsey Cox, Kelli Funderburk, Mary Stover, and Maria Thomas.
