Judy Helms Price went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2022, after an extended illness. She passed peacefully, her family at her side. Judy was born in Union County in 1946 to Bruce Oren Helms and Florence Pinion Helms. As a child, she contracted Polio and walked with the aid of a leg brace the rest of her life. That didn't stop her, however, from teasing her older brother, Charles, by sitting in the yard and throwing her hair brush at him. (So many years later, she'd still giggle when she shared that memory. Her beautiful smile was made even sweeter by those cute dimples.) It also didn't stop her from building a successful career. While still in high school, she decided to follow in the footsteps of a beloved aunt and studied to become a hair stylist. After graduation, she rode with a friend from Indian Trail into uptown Charlotte for beauty school every day. Judy loved making her clients feel good about themselves as well as swapping stories about their lives. She retired as owner/operator of Designin' Women salon in Indian Trail in 2018. She met her husband of 57 years, Jack Price, at the local skating rink. He thought she was pretty; she thought he was handsome. They were both right. They married on a Christmas Day and have been together ever since. In retirement, she enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and, sometimes, playing the piano. But those who knew her know at least two things about her: she loved the Lord and she loved her family. That she is with Him now gives the family peace as they learn to manage without her here on this earth. Along with her husband, she is survived by her daughter and best friend, Lisa Price Herring (Kevin); grandchildren Jesse Herring (Tara), Chris Herring, Bailey Herring McGuire (Brent), and Drew Herring (Mackenzie); and great-grandchildren Jaiyden, Trevyn, Grady, and Elijah. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Sue Muska, Barbara Price, and Mary Price and many nieces and nephews who loved her so. The family will hold a private service at a later date
