Jo Ann Long Griffin, 77, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 6, 1946, to the late Olin Long and Betty McManus Long.

Jo Ann was a lifelong resident of Monroe. Family and friends knew her by her generosity, kind spirit and amazing cooking. Jo Ann often showed her love by gathering her family around a home-cooked meal and providing for those in need. A completely selfless person, Jo Ann cared for many people throughout her life in any way she could. Her hobbies included reading, shopping and traveling. Jo Ann retired from Charlotte Pipe after 43 years of dedicated service and loved every minute of working there. When she wasn't working, she loved watching Duke basketball and vacationing with her family. As a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Jo Ann could often be found faithfully reading her Bible.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann is preceded in passing by her brother Roger Dale Long.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Carroll Wayne Griffin, daughter, Anita Couick, son Toby Griffin sister, Sandy Hinson grandchildren, Jonathan Griffin, Ethan Griffin, Jacob Griffin and Joseph Griffin, great-grandchild, Cooper Griffin, her little dog Peanut and numerous extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Mt Zion Baptist Church 6907 Gus Eubanks Rd., Monroe, NC 28112. Mrs. Griffin will be laid to rest at the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:45 PM until 2:45 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to any Zion Baptist Church Building Fund.
