Jean McCormack, 96, peacefully passed away on July 27, 2023 at the Atrium Hospice of Monroe NC.

Jean was born in Scotland on April 19, 1927 to John and Jeanie Reid. In 1948 she married Alexander McCormack and they enjoyed 70 years of marriage until her husband's death in 2018.

She is survived by her three children David (Lynne) McCormack, Sheena Conlon and Rhona (Roy) Sutton; seven grandchildren, Ian (Hillary) McCormack, Jason (Becca) McCormack, Amy (Matt) Hoel, Stephanie (Dave) Blanton, Kevin (DD) Holder, Amanda Holder, Daniel (Joy) Holder; four great grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Blanton, Cole Blanton, Madeline Hoel and Connor Hoel.

Jean grew up in Scotland. After her marriage to Alexander (Mac to many who knew him), they lived first in Scotland and later in Wales, Ghana, Nigeria and England before the family immigrated to the United States in September 1968 and settled in the Charlotte area.

Love for her family was at the center of Jean's life. She was an active member of Siler Presbyterian Church in Wesley Chapel for many years and of St. Giles Presbyterian Church of Charlotte prior to that. She will be remembered by many for her kind handwritten notes, letters and cards which she sent regularly to family and friends all over the world. She also enjoyed travelling, reading, crosswords and playing card games including canasta and bridge.

A Celebration of Life service for Jean will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:30pm at Siler Presbyterian Church in Wesley Chapel, NC.
