Janice Maddox Evans, 85, went to be with the lord on May 12, 2024. She was born on October 6, 1938, to Luther Orborn and Lillie Belle Maddox. She graduated valedictorian 1956 from Greenwood High School and with top honors from Sanford Business College.

While she was an excellent homemaker in her early years, the latter years were spent as a personal assistant to Lewis Bartles MD Pathology Director of Union Memorial Hospital. That was followed as administrative assistant to Sheriff Frank McGuirt from 1987 to 2002 and was honored with secretary of the year in 1992. She was married to Joseph L. Evans for 65 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Dennis Maddox.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her son, Jeffery Evans (Tanya) of Monroe, daughter, Joan Evans of Mt. Gilead, grandsons, Marshall Evans and Vladik Bodnarchuk, companion, Lillie, special friends, Jean Hart and Gail Harper, also numerous nieces, and nephews.

A service celebrating Janice's life will be held in The Winston Chapel of Holland Funeral Service 806 Circle Drive Monroe NC 28112 at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 18, 2024, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Haskett officiating, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 12:50 pm at the funeral home on Saturday.
