Iris Delane Autry Smith, 78, was called home by her heavenly Father on December 12th, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family. Iris was the wife of Elbert Helms Smith, they shared 60 years of marriage together. Iris was born in Monroe, Union County, North Carolina on December 24th, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Ruth Autry. Iris attended and graduated from Indian Trail school. Iris was an accomplished Preschool teacher for 40 years at Andrea's DayCare in Monroe, NC. Iris was a devoted member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle Church in Monroe, NC, for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading the Bible, traveling, spending time with her family and church members. Iris will be remembered for always thinking of others, never missing a moment with her grandchildren, and her faith in our Lord and Savior. Iris Smith is survived by her Spouse Elbert H. Smith, children, preceded in death by son Thomas Lee Smith (Bonnie), daughter Tina Martin (John), preceded in death by son Anthony "Tony" Smith, son Jeffrey T. Smith (Ginger), and son Jonathan T. Smith (Jennifer). Grandchildren Jessica Martin, Hanna Martin, Anthony Smith (Ashley), Tyler Smith (Courtney), Zacary Smith, Zailey Smith, Abigail Smith, Rachel Smith, and Anna Smith. Great Grandchildren Bryson Martin, Gannon Smith, Haven Smith, Liam Smith, and Abel Smith. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on December 16, 2021 at Bible Baptist Tabernacle Church, 2900 Walkup Ave, Monroe, NC 28110. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00pm until 1:45pm prior to the service. Iris will be laid to rest in the Bible Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery.
