Elizabeth (Lib) Jane Purser Couick, 84, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on March 11, 2025. She passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 13, 1940 in Union County to the late Carl Purser and Maebelle Williams Purser.

Lib, known to her beloved family as "Grammy," loved her family, her friends, her church, Bible Baptist Tabernacle of Monroe, and her Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. She was very talented and loved to serve others in a multitude of ways such as sewing, cooking, enjoying the outdoors, and preserving the fruits of her garden. She found great pleasure in pouring her heart into these pursuits and sharing them with her family and friends. She touched many lives in her church, her workplaces, her community and wherever she was. She left a lasting positive impact on everyone she interacted with.

Lib is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jerry Couick of Waxhaw, NC; son Rodney Couick and his wife Lucinda of Waxhaw; son Robert Couick and his wife Bonnie of Waxhaw; daughter Ann Couick Herring and her husband Steve of Wilmington, NC; sisters Ruth Courtney, Johnnie Mae (Sue) Lowder, Joyce Tarlton, Elaine Starnes and Darlene Bragg; brother Doug Purser; grandchildren Stephanie Olsen, Ashli Ardizzola, Tim Herring, Roger Couick and Kristy Couick; step grandchildren Anthony Smith, Tyler Smith, James Harris, Cindy Sloop and Tim Sloop, Jr; 14 great grandchildren Lockleigh, Breslan, Heartley and Aria Olsen (parent Stephanie) ; Lyla, Tahalia and Gideon Herring (parent Tim); Kenzie and Luca Ardizzola (parent Ashli); Haley, Gracie and Colt Turner (parent Kristy); Carolina and Dakota Couick (parent Roger) and 15 step great grandchildren; Elena Parker, Ilaria and Elisa English, Ezra and Simon Harris (Parent James); Savannah and Eli Sloop (Parent Tim Sloop, Jr); John Joyner, Heidi and Evelyn Miles (Parent Cindy); Gannon, Haven and Abel Smith (Parent Anthony); and Liam Smith (Parent Tyler) and her 6 little chihuahuas who she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, Lib is preceded in passing by her son, Roger Couick, sister, Nell Merritt, and Barbara Haigler, and brother, Jesse James (David) Purser.

Visitation will be at Bible Baptist Tabernacle, 2900 Walkup Ave, Monroe, NC from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, March 14. Her funeral will be held at the church on Saturday, March 15 at 12:00 noon with burial in the church cemetery immediately following the service.

Her family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
