Christine "Teeny" Oakes, 32, of Monroe, went to be with the Lord September 18, 2022. She was born October 23, 1989 to Bill and Doris Buttrell of Wingate, NC.

She is survived by her husband, Colbey; children, Camden (13) and Claire (11); parents, Bill and Doris Buttrell; siblings, Ryan (Sharol) Christenbury, and Heather (Kevin) Joyner; grandparents, Margie Swann, and Hal and Diane Buttrell; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Gayden Swann.

Christine was born and raised in Wingate and graduated from Forest Hills High School in 2008. She was involved in band and theater during her high school years and attended the National Youth Leadership Forum at UCLA in her Junior year. She was a dancer for 16 years and danced at Disney and Alabama Theater. She performed on stage with Shania Twain. Christine earned her Associate of Arts degree from South Piedmont Community College. She was a math tutor at East Union and helped many students.

Christine enjoyed anything with her kids, the joy and treasure of her life. She enjoyed picking the garden (don't ask her to weed it) and feeding the chickens. She loved her church, the church family that accepted her and loved her like Christ, especially the youth group. She loved the mountains and long car rides (so she could sleep) and was often found sporting her hoodie. She loved to go shoe shopping but was often found barefoot, taking her shoes off as soon as she could. She loved food, especially pasta and her El Paso family. Restaurants had to have steak and pasta. She also loved gummy anything.

Christine never missed an opportunity to laugh. She loved to smile and bring joy to others. Christine had a deep and special love for her husband, Colbey. She was the light of her husband's eyes and will be terribly missed by him and their children as well as the rest of the family.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 23rd from 5-7PM at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Dr., Monroe. Celebration of Christine's life will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 2:00PM at Holland Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Centerview Baptist Church Cemetery. Attire should be joyful (avoid black if possible) and Christine would not approve if you wore black, so don't.
