Obituary

On the morning of November 9th, the one we loved and knew stepped across the threshold that we call death, but it was only a step into another room and not the fellowship of life…It was just a step into one of the rooms in our Father's house.

Mrs. Carolyn Polk Moore was born February 19, 1943 in Union County, NC and departed this earthly life on November 9, 2022. She was the loving daughter of the late Edward and Mable Polk. She joined St. Davie Baptist Church at the early age of 10. She graduated from East Union School in 1963. Carolyn was a missionary and served on the Usher Board. She worked for Union County Public Schools (UCPS) for 20 years. She was also a foster mom to many for 26 years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmy Moore; two sisters, Bertha Polk Kilgo and Druscilla Polk McGill; three brothers, Norris Polk, Jerry Polk, and Sgt. Michael Polk; a daughter, Deborah Burns; and a great-granddaughter, Leah Carpenter.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters, Karen Frazier (Harrison) of the home, and Lori L. Polk of Fort Mill, SC; four sons, Michael Polk (Silva) of Dallas, TX, Anthony Barrett of Monroe, NC, and Jeff and Jerome Barrett of Marshville; four brothers, Curtis Polk of Indian Trail, NC, James Polk of Durham, NC, Billy Polk of Marshville, NC, and Thomas Polk of Wingate, NC; and two sisters, Frances Crowder of Monroe, NC, and Sarah Smith of North, NC. She also leaves to treasure memories of her a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
