Mrs. Betty Vernell Howell, Age 75, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at her home. She was born September 9, 1945 in Martin County North Carolina to the late Zeph Roberson and Alice Brown Roberson. She was the loving wife of Rev. Phil Howell for 57 years. Mrs. Howell was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed card making and many people enjoyed getting cards from her. She loved children and taught children's church for many years. Mrs. Howell taught 4 year old kindergarten and Home Economics at Tabernacle Christian School when her children were young. Mrs. Howell retired from BB&T bank. Her family remembers her as a loving pastor's wife, mother and friend. Mrs Howell is survived by her husband Rev. Phil Howell, daughters Phyllis Crenshaw (Tony) and Becky Harper (Tim) of Lancaster and son Paul Howell of the home who was her baby boy. Her grandchildren Matthew Wilson and Joshua Rhyner. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Sarah Lilly. The celebration of life service for Mrs. Howell will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, July, 17, 2021 at Bible Baptist Tabernacle, 2900 Walkup Ave, Monroe, North Carolina officiated by the Rev. Bobby Leonard, Rev. Roger Leggett and Rev. Phil Howell. Entombment will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
