IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mrs. Betty Keever
Garmon
July 23, 1929 – March 2, 2023
Betty Keever Garmon, 93, of Monroe entered the Church Triumphant on March 2, 2023 after a brief illness.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late C. Abner and Macie Goodson Keever. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in 2002 by her cherished husband and best friend of over 50 years, Howard Garmon.
Survivors include her daughter, Melissa Garmon, brother, Jim Keever, and several Goodson and Keever cousins.
Betty came to Charlotte in 1947 following her graduation and worked at Southern Bell for several years. She was a loyal associate of Ivey's and then Dillard's Department Store for nearly 35 years.
Betty earnestly sought and was so thrilled by finding the unexpected loveliness and worth of unusual places, creatures, objects, design, events, sounds, and most of all, people. Using this gift to serve engaged couples as the bridal registrar at Dillard's was particularly rewarding to her. Her delight in watching golf, (particularly The Open, The Masters, and the Wells Fargo), FIFA soccer, and college basketball with her husband, daughter, brother-in-law Roland, and friends was infectious. She truly hoped for everyone to enjoy these things as much as she did, and for them to discover beauty and kindness everywhere. Her enthusiasm for adventures large and small, "good nutrition", dancing, multiple types of music, and world affairs combined with a wry sense of humor, plus an independent, inquisitive, lively mind made her an engaging companion. Very little pleased her more than eagerly giving what she had, especially the flowers from her garden. She shared a voracious love of reading and history with her brother Jim and so enjoyed their camping trips to historical sites, the mountains, and visits to the Biltmore House.
Betty had a quiet, thoughtful, enduring faith in her Lord, and a deep, abiding, generous love for her immediate and extended family. She and Howard were charter members of Sharon United Methodist Church. In her later years, she returned to Myers Park United Methodist Church, where they had attended after first being married.
Her daughter wishes to convey heartfelt thanks to the professionals and staff of Atrium Wound Care-Union for their incredible, dedicated care. Special thanks also go to dear friend Judy Perry and her entire family for their love and support over the past year.
