Mr.William "Bill" Hammond, 71, made his journey to his Heavenly home on July 14th 2021. Bill was born in Union County to Franklin Eugene Hammond and Margaret Jean Hubbard. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He proudly served his country in the National Guard. Bill was employed at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry for 40 years. When he was not working he was an avid golfer, gardener, and grill master. You could often find him in his recliner listening to the local AM radio while watching his birds. Bills favorite sports team was the NC State Wolfpack. He loved telling his grandchildren dad jokes and making them smile. A visitation will be held at Corinth Baptist Church on Saturday, July 17th 2021 from 1:00 to 2:15. A service to celebrate his life will follow at 2:30 in the church sanctuary. Rev. Chuck Hensley, Rev. John Jenkins, and, Rev. Roy Helms will be officiating. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Patty Hammond; daughter, Tracy Moncrief (Jay); sons, Jesse Hammond, and Josh Helms (Heather); grandchildren, Isabella Helms (Toby), Gabby Helms, and Kennedy Helms; Mother, Margaret Hubbard; Brothers, Tommy Hammond (Mary); Terry Hammond; and Clint Hammond (Trish); Sister, Cindy Smith (Bobby), Janet Wiese (Doug). Bill joins in Heaven, Father, Gene Hammond; Stepfather, Elton Hubbard; Grandaughter, Zoeie Helms; Great grandchildren, Hinley, Paisley and Paxton; And his lifelong napping partner, LuLu the pug.
