Mr. William Layne Black, Jr. "Bill", age 66, of Wingate, died at his residence November 26, 2022. Bill was born October 29, 1956, in Charlotte, NC, and was the son of William Layne Black, Sr. and Rebecca Crowder Black. Bill attended Garinger High School and served in the US Army 1977-1981. Upon his return to Charlotte, he worked as a welder then maintenance manager before going into auto sales. Bill developed many remodeling and mechanical skills and could fix most anything broken or with an engine. He gave time generously to friends and family if he could repair a car, and particularly enjoyed rebuilding motorcycles. Bill was most carefree going for "wind therapy" on his motorcycle, watching old Westerns, or grinning to tell a joke.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by son, Chace Layne Black (Maggie); and daughter, Cristian Black; sisters, Louise Felton and Marsha Lynch (Dennis); grandchildren, Ellie and Owen Black; nieces, Rebecca F. Hodapp (Steve) and Carly Felton; and his cherished dachshund "Soldier".

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 3 p.m. at Holland Funeral Services, 806 Circle Dr., Monroe. Family will receive friends following the service.
