Walter Douglas "Doug" Aldridge, 80, went to his heavenly home on March 23, 2024. He was born December 3, 1943, to the late Walter James Aldridge and Virginia Moore Aldridge. Doug was well known for many things. He was a local legend at Starlite Speedway and the Lancaster Motor Speedway having won numerous races and the 1973 points championship in his #63 baby blue Camaro. Doug was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his $2 Crowd at White Plains Golf Course. He also had a passion for restoring C2 Corvettes with his son, Brian. Doug will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Union Baptist Church, 4312 Old Pageland Monroe Rd, Monroe, NC 28112. Mr. Aldridge will be laid to rest at the church cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Drive, Monroe, NC 28112.
He is preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Beverly Aldridge; father, Walter James Aldridge, mother, Virginia Moore Aldridge; and sisters-in-law, Linda Starr Aldridge and Theresa Thomas.
Doug is survived by his daughter, Angie Byrum (Randy) of Monroe, NC; son, Brian Aldridge of Monroe, NC; daughter, Tonya Helms (James) of Monroe, NC , sister, Linda Craig (Dean) of Indian Trail, NC; brother, Mike Aldridge of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Kerstyn Laney (Dylan) of Monroe, NC, Christian Aldridge of Wilmington, NC, and Logan Helms of Monroe, NC; mother-in-law, Mary L. Connor of Indian Trail, NC; sister-in-law, Gail Maynor of Indian Trail NC; brother-in-law, Robert A. Maynor Jr. (Sara) of Summerville, SC; brother-in-law, Benny Thomas of Lake Wiley, SC, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Doug's honor to the Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 4312 Old Pageland Monroe Road, Monroe, NC 28112.
