Thomas "Tommy" William Mangum, 68, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, February 13, 2021. Tommy was born in Charlotte, NC on June 24, 1952 to the late M. Wayne and Mary Jane Dillon Mangum. Tommy graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1970, went on to attend UNC-Chapel Hill and earned a bachelor of arts degree. He then went on to have an extensive career in banking and finance. Tommy began his career at North Carolina Farm Credit, he went on to serve at United Carolina Bank and retired from BB&T in 2017. Tommy was a loving and devoted husband and father. Tommy valued family above all else. He was a past member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a current member of Lee Park Church where he served as a deacon for many years at both churches in addition to other leadership roles.
The family welcomes anyone who would like to pay their respects to Tommy on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM at Holland Funeral Service, 806 Circle Dr. Monroe, NC 28112. Per Tommy's wishes due to COVID his family will not be present, and they will have a private graveside ceremony at Lakeland Memorial Park.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Debbie Mangum; the light of his life, daughter Jessica Mangum; brother, Gerald Mangum (Linda); mother-in-law, Barbara Deason; brother-in-law, Danny Deason (Ruth); and several nieces.
For those who do not wish to send flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made in Tommy's name to a charity of your choice.
