Mr. Tommy Wilson Burgess, 75 of Monroe NC passed away Sunday March 20th surrounded by his family who he loved dearly. "TB" as he was called grew up in Waxhaw NC when it was still "Waxhaw". He was a US Army Vietnam veteran having served in Germany with the 7th Army 32 Air Defense. He was a very patriotic man. He also loved his Carolina Tarheel Basketball and loved to watch Nascar. He was a lineman and he retired from Union Power in 2008. His other love were his grandsons. If you ever spoke to him, you knew that he loved his grands.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Burgess of Waxhaw NC and one brother, James Hal Burgess.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucy Plyler Burgess, daughter Donna Burgess Conley (Mark) of Waxhaw and son Tommy Wilson Burgess, Jr (TJ) of Monroe. Grandsons Wilson Dale Conley, Marcus Cade Conley, James Blake Burgess, Benjamin Luke Burgess and Samuel Jake Burgess.
He is also survived by two brothers Ronnie Charles Burgess (Vickie) of Hemby Brigde NC and Roger Dale Burgess (Diane) of Van Wyck, SC.
There will be no service per his request.
