Mr. Solon Forrest Cotton, age 78, of Monroe, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 18th, 2023. He was born on March 23rd, 1944, in Burlington, NC, to Rev. Worth and Alice Cotton and was one of 5 children.

He married Anita Smith on Dec. 4th, 1966, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971. He and Anita moved to Monroe in 1971 where he began a long career in the commercial automatic door industry. He enjoyed fishing and was active in Shiloh Advent Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Anita Cotton; son, Steve Cotton (Delisa); son, Douglas Cotton (Missy); two grandchildren, Grace and Forrest Cotton; and his younger brother, Paul Cotton of Wilmington.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 23rd with visitation at 1:00 pm and a memorial service at 2:00 pm. at Shiloh Advent Christian Church located at 3601 Sikes Mill Rd. Monroe, NC 28110. Donations in Solon's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
