Obituary

Scott Randall Witmore

December 10th, 1961- April 14th, 2025

Scott Witmore, known as Whitey by most and Uncle Sprout by his great nieces went peacefully to meet Jesus on April 14, 2025. Scott was a beloved son, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend.

Born on December 10th, 1961, Scott grew up in a loving family in Mint Hill, NC. He was known for his kind heart, unique humor, and his ability to trim any "shrub" to perfection. He was the second oldest of his four siblings and growing up he was known to be someone you wouldn't want to mess with! He had a free spirit and quirky personality that made being around him a good time, and he always had the room laughing never knowing what he'd say next.

Scott was known for doing things differently in life but always being rooted in his love for his family and being together. He loved gardening, yard work, his little dog ToTo, and his chickens. He also wasn't shy about his love for scratch offs, and cigarettes. He could tinker with just about anything and enjoyed a warm day outside in the garage with his brother. His biggest love however was satisfying his sweet tooth! Strawberry delight, Boston creme cake, cherry cream cheese pies. He loved his sweets! His sisters and sister-in-law always made sure he had the goodies he liked most waiting on him at every family gathering. He could always be found with a bandana around his head and a pair of overalls on. Scott did things his own way and was always happy living life.

Scott is preceded in death by his dad (Johnny Witmore), mom (Arlee Witmore), and nephew (Winston Witmore). He is survived by his loving siblings, Sherrie (Rick Howell), Trisha (Terry Brooks), and Rodney (Penny Witmore), his nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Scott was a bright light in his family and to so many who knew him. That light will be significantly missed. In his last days surrounded by his siblings he said aloud, "the tomb is empty!" What a beautiful testament to the Easter Scott now gets to celebrate in heaven this upcoming weekend. To know he is at peace now in Heaven with Jesus is what will be our comfort until we meet again.

A graveside service to celebrate Scott's life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Griffin Cemetery, 3398 Griffin Cemetery Rd., Monroe, NC 28112.
