Salvatore Marafioti, Sr., of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on October 12 at the age of 86. Mr. Marafioti was born and raised in Verplanck, NY to his parents, Rocco and Mary Marafioti, both deceased.

Mr. Marafioti served in the USAF during the Korean War. After his tour in the Airforce, he married his high school sweetheart, Madeline Cangianni Marafioti. They were married for 61 years until her passing from cancer.

He worked for the VA Hospital in Montrose, NY starting in the landscape and grounds and transitioning to painter and building maintenance engineer. He also had his own painting and landscape business.

After retiring from the VA, they moved to Roanoke, VA where he worked several years at the Roanoke Hotel as the maintenance supervisor before moving to The Villages, FL to fully retire.

Mr. Marafioti is survived by his two children, Patricia Marafioti Brom and Salvatore Marafioti Jr. and his wife, Wendy; along with two grandchildren, Victoria Marafioti and Grace Brom. He had 10 brothers and 3 sisters, and is survived by 3 of his brothers, Rocco, Jerry, and Vinny.

He loved fishing and hunting, gardening and exercising, but his number one interest was his family; his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. They were his world.

Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at St Matthews Catholic Church in Charlotte NC.
