Roy Lee Turner passed away at McWhorter Hospice House on October 18, 2023.
Roy was born to Roy James and Louisa (Young) Turner November 1, 1944 in Pontiac, MI. He graduated from Eldorado High School in Illinois. Roy married the love of his life, Brenda Black, February 18, 1966. They lived most of their life in and around Raleigh and Eldorado, IL. With a strong work ethic, Roy learned the carpentry trade from his dad and grandpa. Roy owned his own carpentry business and worked as a welder, precision grinder and maintenance mechanic. Roy's last places of employment were Maytag (Marion, IL) and Locust Lumber (Monroe, NC). Roy and Brenda were drawn to North Carolina to be near family in 1996. Roy loved to be outside where he enjoyed fishing, hunting or just sitting on the patio watching the wildlife.
Roy was proceeded in death by his beloved grandparents James Martin and Loretta Turner and his parents Roy J and Louisa Turner.
Roy is survived by his wife Brenda (Black) Turner, son Marty (Cathy) Turner, and two beloved granddaughters Emma (Rob) Turner, Bekah Turner.
The family would like to offer their deep appreciation to Hospice of Union County for their support, especially Ashley, Kim, Carl, Maggie, Larry and others who cared for him at home as well as the compassionate staff at McWhorter House. Thank you to Siler Presbyterian Church family for their prayers, love, support, visits and food.
