Ronald Vernon Griffin, 83, went home to be with his Lord on January 4, 2025 surrounded by his family. Ron was born in Union County, NC on June 6, 1941 to the late Rev. D.T. "Budd" Griffin and Evelyn Watkins Griffin.

Ron, affectionately known as "Paw Paw" by his family will be remembered for his exceptional kindness and love of others. He was an amazing husband. He loved going for long rides and eating Bojangles with Betty. They would sit by the highway in Monroe just "watching folks go by." He would spend whole days with her when she was admitted to a skilled care facility following a stroke. He would later join her there when his own health deteriorated, but he still saw to it that she was taken care of every day and his concern and love for her was contagious. He was an extraordinary father and loved his boys. There are so many life skills that he taught to Steve and Chris, particularly hard work and the love of the outdoors. He farmed and raised chickens almost 40 years and passed those values learned down to his sons. He was especially fond of his grandchildren, and they still talk about the times they had growing up on the farm with Maw Maw and Paw Paw. He loved music and there was always a song on his heart. He was a wonderful singer and loved to sing solos and in the choir at church. He even sang with the Southside Quartet. There was no greater love in his heart than his love for the Lord Jesus. It was this love that made him the gentle soul he was. He would often tear up when thinking about going home to be with the Lord. His family is comforted knowing that is where he is now, and they are grateful for the promise they have of seeing Paw Paw again.

A service to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 4013 New Town Rd. Waxhaw, NC 28173. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM in the Church Sanctuary.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Betty Alexander Griffin; sons, Steve Griffin (Tammie), Chris Griffin (Ashea); grandchildren, Abby Griffin (Chad), Addison Griffin Moser (Austin), Chloe Griffin, Lanie Griffin Hough (Gabe), Carlie Griffin, Cizzie Griffin; and great-grandson, River Parks Griffin.

In addition to his parents Ron is preceded in passing by his granddaughter, Bailey MaRhea Griffin.
